Summer Sailor Whales John John

I love this print.  The happy little whales have sailor hats on and are having fun splashing around!  This john john would be great for Spring, Summer and even 4th of July.  I've lined it with navy broadcloth and the shoulders have red buttons and the crotch closes with snaps.  Available for $25 on my etsy site.

Spring Dresses

I love this dress.  The pincord lining just compliments the seer sucker so much.  And then I found these sunflower buttons in my collection and added a satin sash and there you go!  Perfect!  The sash can be changed out.

Here's a sweet green/white pin stripe fabric, lined with white broadcloth.  The pink gross grain ribbons is a great accent.  Both of these dresses are available for $25 on my etsy site.

New Spring Outfits

Introducing (finally) some new spring and summer outfits! These are all available on my etsy site (well, with the exception of this particular purple dress-but if you like it I can reproduce it).
Even though he is scowling in the picture, J.T. loves his john johns!  This is a yellow/white seer sucker john john, lined with white broad cloth.  Available in sizes 6 mo-3T.

This A Line is so soft and sweet.  The pink/white microcheck that I used as lining and ruffle is one of my favorites.  This is a 2T.

Swing top with bloomers, $15

Here's a little preview to the summer. I meant to have my daughter wear this outfit this past summer but never got around to finishing it. So now I'm selling it. This model is 6 mo, but I can also make it in 3, 9, 12, and 18 month. There are brown satin ribbons under the arms and the neck closes with a thread loop and button. I love this pattern and it looks adorable on our sweet little girls. Shorts can easily be substituted for the bloomers if desired:)

Last month of business?

Consumer Product Safety Commission law

I'm not sure how many of you have heard about a new law that is going into effect to protect children ages 12 and under on Feb. 10 so here is the short of the long (written on my etsy page):
The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) is a new law put into effect to protect children under the age of 12 from lead and other harmful products in toys and items. A great law considering the mishaps with the toys from China last year. But this law is so broad and general that it doesn't take into account small businesses nor those who deal with fabric like me. Basically everyone who sells any item that may be used for a child 12 and under will need to enlist (and pay a lot of $) a third party to test their items for lead and other harmful chemicals. For me and many others, my fabric, thread, buttons etc have already been tested by the original manufacturer and it will put me out of business to have my own testing (along with thousands or other small businesses).
So that is the short story. To find out more or to sign a petition to have this law "refined" please visit http://cpsia-central.ning.com..
Here is an article written this past week in the LA Timeson the effects of the new law:
"Barring a reprieve, regulations set to take effect next month could force thousands of clothing retailers and thrift stores to throw away trunkloads of children's clothing.

The law, aimed at keeping lead-filled merchandise away from children, mandates that all products sold for those age 12 and younger -- including clothing -- be tested for lead and phthalates, which are chemicals used to make plastics more pliable. Those that haven't been tested will be considered hazardous, regardless of whether they actually contain lead."
